Have community volunteers ask for donations/pledges outside the grocery store with the proceeds going to the playground construction fund.
Ask if the local store offers store scrip (store certificates that the store sells to you at a discounted price and then you sell it for the listed price and keep the profit).
Nearly every community member visits the grocery store - post flyers to recruit volunteers and donations.
Some stores are able to provide small gift cards or certificates that can be used for food, ice, utensils, plastic cups, water, beverages, fruit, garbage bags, and cleaning supplies for Build Day.
Some grocery stores help community groups by allowing them to fundraise via a "recycled bag" program. For every grocery bag that is recycled, they'll donate five cents to a local cause. See if your local store offers such a program. If not, suggest it!
