How did your second annual carnival go? I'm very interested in doing a fundraising carnival but, I don't know where to begin.

I have not been able to buy your popcorn which I and many friends enjoy. Why on earth did you stop selling it and where can I get some? The store popcorn is terrible.

We used a fund raiser with gourmet coffee. This wasn't your off the shelf stuff. It was good and well accepted. Something different. Best of all the supporters could re order off the company website and you still get the same profit from each order they place. Its ongoing. No inventory, fee or costs. They stock and ship. We did very well with this one. Email me if you want more info.

I probably wouldn't do tasting charges, perhaps just the admission charge or just the charge for more than a sample

Every year my school hosts a Dance-a-Thon for a different charity each year. we only have 400 kids in the school, but we raise about 50,000 dollars a year!

We used Green Students Fundraising http://www.greenstudentsfundraising.com for our elementary school fundraising. What's great about them is they only offer green products so not only did we raise money for our school, our green fundraiser helped the planet too.

Our school raised money by providing a FREE online shopping fundraising website to our families and friends. No cost to registrar and we receive our own custom website. We made 1500.00 in two months.

lwirtanen@bchfs.org(355 - days ago )Page: Flying High with Hot Air Balloons

For the renting the propane, in terms of safety with the hot air balloon, I would strongly recommend that you just have the professional come out to opearte the balloon. Then you won't have to worry about the propane. Things can go wrong with hot air balloon rides- wind, trees, etc.

In terms of securing the location, the hot air balloon operator would be able to guide you. That way, you save yourself time with researching what places can launch a balloon, and what places are in compliance with air traffic control.

I'm from Cleveland, Ohio, and a balloon ride for 2 is around $600. We previously auctioned it off in our golf classic auction. We made about $900 on the package and spent around $200 for a net of $700. So, another idea for this would be to do a silent auction, ebay auction, tie it into another special event, etc.

What would your admission charge be? Would you charge the entrants? What about "tasting" charges?

If you do, come back and let us know how it worked out! Amy

Guest(428 - days ago )Page: Dinner Crawl

I think this is such a neat ideal. Thought about trying it for our fundraiser.

Amy Lee(430 - days ago )Page: Fundraising Ideas

Thanks, Beverly! That sounds like a lot of fun. I remember "pig kissing" fundraisers from when I grew up. I hope you got pictures. Your pastor is a good sport.

As an twist, perhaps the pastor and/or his wife should be allowed to buy themselves out of kissing the pig. That would possibly raise more money, but I wonder if it would take away the fun of watching someone... you know... kiss a pig.

Beverly Williams(430 - days ago )Page: Kiss a Pig

The teenagers at our church had a fundraiser to help raise funds to purchase new equipment and toys for the younger children to play on by having a "who do you think will kiss the pig - Pastor or his wife." They had 2 containers, 1 with each of their's names written on them. At the beginning and ending of every service the teens would shout and cheer for our pastor and his wife getting people to give them money in the containers. The deal was, the person with the most money was going to kiss this pig. This went on for a month and the teens raised a lot of money for our christian school. At the end of the whole thing our pastor wife ended up being the loser, then someone came and gave money to make it even so they both had to kiss the pig. It was a fun and exciting event for everyone, and like I said we raised alot of money for the school.

tanwera(449 - days ago )Page: Dancing With the Stars

We asked local town officials, school principal, well-known business owners, librarian etc... to attend a certain number of dance classes before the event. For the first year, I think they attended 3-4 classes since the routine was more complex to learn (swing dance). the second year they had to learn the "Hustle" so that was easier. We asked a local dance school to do the training and they, in turn, had a chance to put their own dancers at the show for publicity for themselves.
We chose to do a group dance because the dancers were too intimidated to go alone and we also chose to not have it as a "competition" with judges but I think that would be fun too - I guess it depends on your group of dancers and how they would respond to that.
Some of them were a little hesitant to put in so much time (going to classes) but all of them ended up having a really good time. The first year, we offered them a plaque to thank them and the second year, we put in engraved bricks at the playground thanking the dancers.
The more "dancers" you have, the more people you can draw to the event since all the dancers will have friends and family come and watch them.

* smile * It's an oldie, but a goodie.

I am trying to set up a tethered hot air balloon fundraiser and the cost of the balloon is more than I will make. The cheapest I can get someone to come out for is $1,200. I don't think it is possible to make money when right away you have expenses that high.

Aloha Jeannine! What a great idea! A well-designed logo can really help your project get recognized. As someone with a background in graphic design, though, I need to share that good logos are actually really hard to do. If you ask a local artist for this, realized that designing a logo might actually be harder than designing several brochures. Amy

Aloha from Hawaii! Niu Valley currently is the only community without playground equipment in East Honolulu. A resident of our Valley created the beautiful logo attached for our community to use in generating support, funds and excitement. As you can see, our swinging little girl expresses the happiness we all feel (adults and children alike) working toward having our playground built. So don't forget to ask your community members for artwork, as well as children. Aloha, Jeannine Johnson, Niu Valley Community Association

amyklee83(466 - days ago )Page: Truck Touch

We are considering doing a similar type of event at my school. I wanted to know more information about how your organized the dancing with the stars portion of your fundraiser.

Guest(525 - days ago )Page: School Fair or Carnival

As far as fundraisers go a school carnival can be great. The idea though is to have the fun games and activities for the kids (cakes walk, hook a duck, etc) at an inexpensive price and then have a silent auction and raffle where the big bucks come in. I am in the midst of planning my second annual. Last year we made $5000! Wow.
